Fundraiser update, a Christmas miracle, and our next goal
Allow me to share some good news about the fundraiser, our next goal, and a Christmas miracle.
First, background info:
In mid-September I announced the 2022 fundraiser. The goal is to raise $30,000.
I need that to cover expenses connected with the work I’m doing with this channel, the Weekly Roundup show, and other work with community organizing:
We need to cover equipment, recurring expenses, administrative costs for keeping the channel going, my own expenses, paying colleagues for work they do behind the scenes, and a budget for organizing events…
(Without funding, the work grinds to a halt, and it’s no longer possible to keep going.)
As a partway goal, I decided that when we reach $20,000 I start planning the next social event with prominent speakers.
And here’s the good news…
So far we have received 203 separate donations, bringing us to a total of $9,373. That means we’re almost 1/3 of the way to the total goal and halfway to the goal of organizing a conference.
And here’s the Christmas miracle…
Two benefactors have pledged a generous contribution each toward the next event – one has offered $5000 and the other $4000.
This means that, all of a sudden… we’re almost there. We’re only $1627 away from reaching the partway goal of $20,000.
In other words: when we have raised another $1627, I start planning the next conference!
So here is our new goal:
I want to raise $1,627 within a week to make sure we get the other two donations before the end of the year. That way, I can start planning the event first thing in the new year.
Conference organizing has always been my top priority.
We’re not all rational calculating machines; we’re social creatures… Cold information isn’t enough — we need human contact.
It’s now three years since I organized the last event. (Nov. 2019, scroll down to see a photo.)
COVID stopped all of that, because travel and planning became impossible.
But now it’s time to get started again.
Hibernation is over.
Help me raise $1,627 within the next week so we can get the ball rolling before the end of the year.
Your faith in my work inspires me to keep going. So thank you all!
When I feel “black pilled” I think about all the people who believe in my work enough to support it through their actions. That makes me realize my efforts aren’t wasted.
