Entrance to schools of higher learning has never been unbiased. The recent scandal of the children of Hollywood stars and other elites show that objective criteria are not always applied. The point is that the criteria for entrance is not as important as the criteria for the criteria for graduation. If the student shows an ability to master the material and gain competency and does so then the admissions criteria becomes unimportant. And as far as Asian students are concerned they work harder but are not more intelligent, and in spite of their marks they are less creative. What is important is to apply criteria other than marks. For example a student with a B average and who is poor is on a par with a student with a straight A average who is wealthy enough to hire private tutors and pay exorbitant fees for test preparation courses. Marks should never be the sole criteria of acceptance.
